Privacy Policy
Last updated: 10 September 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how personal information is collected and used through the FAWX website. FAWX is committed to handling personal information fairly, lawfully and transparently in accordance with applicable UK data protection law.
1. Who is responsible for your information
FAWX is an artist project operated by Paul Fawkes, who is the data controller for personal information collected through this website.
Privacy enquiries and requests about your personal information can be submitted through the Contact page on the FAWX website.
2. Information we collect
The FAWX website does not provide customer accounts, ecommerce, checkout facilities or user profiles.
Contact enquiries
If you use the Contact form, we may collect your first name, last name, email address, subject, message and any optional company or telephone information you choose to provide.
Booking enquiries
If you use the Bookings form, we may collect your first name, last name, email address, venue or event name, event date, country, message and any optional company/promoter, city, budget or telephone information you choose to provide.
Newsletter
If you choose to subscribe to the FAWX newsletter, we collect your email address and the information needed to record and demonstrate your consent, such as the date, time and method of sign-up and confirmation.
Contact and booking details are not automatically added to the newsletter.
Technical and security information
The website host, mail delivery and security systems may process limited technical information such as IP address, browser/device information, timestamps, request logs and security events where this is necessary to operate, protect or troubleshoot the website.
3. How we use personal information
We may use personal information to:
- receive and respond to general enquiries;
- assess and respond to booking enquiries;
- communicate with you about an enquiry you have made;
- send FAWX release news, free-download announcements and selected artist updates where you have actively subscribed;
- operate, secure, maintain and troubleshoot the website and its forms;
- prevent spam, abuse and security incidents; and
- comply with legal obligations or establish, exercise or defend legal rights where necessary.
FAWX does not sell personal information.
4. Lawful bases for processing
General enquiries
We normally rely on legitimate interests to receive and respond to genuine enquiries and to manage communications relating to the FAWX artist project. Those interests are balanced against the rights and reasonable expectations of the person making contact.
Bookings and professional opportunities
Where a booking or professional enquiry may lead to an agreement, we may process information where necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract. Legitimate interests may also apply to related professional correspondence.
Newsletter
We rely on your consent to use your email address for FAWX marketing emails. You can withdraw that consent at any time by using the unsubscribe facility in an email or by contacting FAWX.
Website security and administration
We rely on legitimate interests where limited technical data is reasonably necessary to keep the website secure, reliable and operational.
5. Newsletter and marketing emails
FAWX sends newsletter and marketing emails only to people who have actively chosen to receive them via Mailchimp. The newsletter may include information about new releases, free tracks and downloads, remixes, selected artist news, performances or events and other directly related FAWX updates.
The newsletter sign-up is separate from the Contact and Bookings forms. Submitting an enquiry does not subscribe you to marketing.
A double opt-in process is used so that the subscription can be confirmed and a clear consent record can be maintained. Every marketing email will include a simple way to unsubscribe.
If you unsubscribe, a minimal suppression record may be retained where necessary to ensure that your preference is respected and you are not accidentally re-added to marketing.
Mailchimp will process subscriber information on behalf of FAWX for subscription management and email delivery.
6. Music players and external services
The website includes in-page music players or integrations for Beatport and SoundCloud so that visitors can play FAWX music directly on the website.
When you load or interact with third-party embedded content, the relevant service may receive technical information about your browser, device, IP address or interaction and may use cookies or similar technologies in accordance with its own privacy information.
Where a third-party player or integration uses non-essential cookies or similar technologies that require consent under UK law, those technologies will not be activated until the required consent has been obtained.
The website may also link to external music and social platforms. When you follow an external link, the destination service is responsible for its own processing of personal information.
7. Cookies and similar technologies
The FAWX website may use strictly necessary cookies or similar technologies required for security, forms, consent preferences or basic website operation.
Non-essential cookies or similar technologies will only be used where the required consent has been obtained. This may include technologies associated with third-party music players or any optional service added to the website.
No analytics platform is required for the launch website. If analytics or another optional service is added later, the privacy and cookie information will be updated before that processing begins.
8. Who we share information with
Personal information may be processed by trusted service providers where necessary to operate the website and communications, including:
- website hosting and infrastructure providers;
- form and authenticated email-delivery providers;
- newsletter and mailing-list providers;
- website security or anti-spam providers; and
- professional advisers or authorities where disclosure is genuinely necessary or required by law.
Service providers acting on behalf of FAWX are expected to process personal information only for the relevant service and under appropriate data-protection arrangements.
9. International transfers
Some technology providers may process personal information outside the United Kingdom. Where this happens, FAWX will use a provider and arrangement that offers an appropriate lawful transfer mechanism, such as a UK adequacy regulation or approved contractual safeguards, where required.
10. How long we keep information
Personal information is kept only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.
General enquiries are normally retained for as long as needed to answer the enquiry and deal with reasonable follow-up. Booking or professional correspondence may be kept longer where necessary for contractual, business, accounting or legal purposes.
Newsletter information is kept while you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, only the minimum information needed to honour your opt-out may be retained on a suppression list.
Technical and security logs are retained for a limited period appropriate to the host, security service and any genuine troubleshooting or security need.
11. How we protect information
Reasonable technical and organisational measures are used to protect personal information against accidental loss, misuse, unauthorised access, alteration or disclosure. Access is limited to people and service providers who reasonably need it for the purposes described in this policy.
12. Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law may give you rights including:
- the right to be informed about how your personal information is used;
- the right to access personal information held about you;
- the right to have inaccurate information corrected;
- the right to request erasure of personal information;
- the right to restrict processing in certain circumstances;
- the right to object to certain processing;
- the right to data portability where applicable; and
- the right to withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.
You have an absolute right to object to the use of your personal information for direct marketing.
To exercise a right, use the Contact page on the FAWX website. We may ask for enough information to verify your identity before acting on a request.
13. Complaints
If you are concerned about how FAWX handles your personal information, please contact FAWX first so the issue can be reviewed.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK supervisory authority for data protection. Current contact and complaint information is available at ico.org.uk.
14. Changes to this Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated if the website, services, providers or legal requirements change. The current version will be published on the FAWX website with its latest revision date.
